Notes on the Club Sandwich Ingredients
- Even if you don’t like the smell of sardines, you will enjoy this club sandwich because all the other tastes going on masks the taste of the sardines a great deal.
Directions for making the Club Sandwich
- Mash the sardines till smooth and mix well with the butter, set aside.
- De-seed and chop the tomato into the tiniest pieces possible.
- Chop or grate the cabbage into very tiny pieces.
- Scrape and grate the carrot.
- Chop the hard boiled egg into tiny pieces. See the video below for the trick I use to do that with an egg slicer.
- Mix the cabbage, tomato, egg, carrot and mayonnaise in a container till a spread-like consistency is achieved.
- Cut off the edges of the slices of bread.
- Spread the tomato mix between two slices of bread.
- Do the same for two more slices.
- Spread the sardine mix on one side of one pair of slices.
- Put the two pairs together.
- Make an X cut on the unified slices to get 4 pieces as shown in the image above. Or better see the video below for how I did that.
- Repeat the process for the remaining 4 slices.
Serve immediately or chilled with a chilled soft drink or hot chocolate. It is also great when served as part of small chops at a party.
