Collagen Oil Ingredients

You need meat and bones that are rich in collagen. These include:

  • Bones
  • Chicken feet
  • Cow foot
  • Port Rinds
  • If you want flavoured collagen oil, add vegetables:
    • Onions
    • Carrots
    • Basil
    • Garlic Sprouts
    • Parsley

Before you prepare Collagen Oil

  1. Ask your butcher to cut the bones into small pieces for better extraction of the collagen.
  2. Make several cuts on the chicken feet and cowfoot, for better extraction of the collagen.

Directions for making the Collagen Oil

  1. Wash all the meat thoroughly. Soak the bones in water for about one hour. Rinse till the water is clear. This is so that all blood is washed off.
  2. Place in a big pot, cut up all the vegetables and add to the pot.
  3. Pour water to cover them and start cooking on high heat.
  4. Once it boils, turn down the heat to low and leave to simmer till the meat and bones start falling apart. If you have a slow cooker, it’s perfect for this.
  5. After a few hours of simmering, the one in the video below was for about 4 hours, turn off the heat. Take out the now deflated vegetables. Take out the tasteless meat and bones.
  6. Sieve the resulting collagen filled liquid into a clean dry bowl. Set aside to cool down completely.
  7. Place the bowl in the FRIDGE overnight to chill.
  8. The next morning, you will see the collagen oil caked on top. Gently scoop out and place in containers in small quantities and freeze.
  9. When you want to use it, add a small piece of frozen collagen oil to what you are cooking. Watch me use it to cook in this video.
